2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Iowa City, IA
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Since 1989, this all age, all-ability walk has mobilized millions to join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, raising more than $347 million for the cause. Events are held annually in the fall in nearly 600 communities nationwide.
Walk Schedule:
Check-In and Registration- 1:00pm
Opening Kickoff Ceremony- 1:45pm
Walk to End Alzheimer’s- 2:00pm
Walk Distance: The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is about 2.5 miles. A shorter route will be marked for those unable to complete the full walk route (~1 mile).
Walk Route: The route is paved, flat and handicap accessible. A water stop will also be available on the walk route. Click here for a detailed map.
Parking: Various parking lots are available within City Park. Please check with the Parking Volunteers for further assistance.
Pets: Dogs are welcome! Visit our “Doggy Area” for activities, treats and more. Due to the large number of people and the unknown disposition of dogs that may be in attendance, the Alzheimer’s Association cannot be responsible for the safety of your pet.
In Case of Rain: Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held rain or shine. Please watch the weather and plan accordingly.
