Obituary of Florence E. Oberman

Her family includes a daughter Betty and husband Wendell Eden of Washington, a son: Richard and wife Joyce Oberman of Iowa City, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother Earl Womer of Wellman, two sister in-laws Dorothy Womer of Iowa City and Florence, (Mrs. Paul Oberman) of West Liberty. Her parents and one brother Robert Womer and her husband preceded her in death. Florence was born on January 26, 1912 in Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Carmi R. and Ada Gregory Womer. She attended grade schools in Pleasant Valley Township and University High School in Iowa City. Florence married Wilbur E. Oberman on November 26, 1930 in Iowa City at the First Methodist Church Parsonage. She was a sixty plus year member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the River Valley Club and was a secretary for Pleasant Valley Township Schools for a number of years. She was a former member of the Farm Bureau Women’s chorus and the Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club. She served as a leader for the Jolly Workers 4-H Club and was the first secretary for the Johnson County Extension Service. Florence had lived in the Iowa City area for her entire life except for seven years when her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Atrium Village or Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
