Obituary of Agnes M. Barry

Agnes M. "Aggie" Barry, 93 longtime resident of the Tiffin area died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Lantern Park Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, March 6, 2017, at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, with burial to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery near Tiffin. Visitation will be from 9am until services on Monday at the Church. Memorial donations can be given in her memory to Grace United Methodist Church or Tiffin First Responders. Agnes Mabel Heiak was born on October 20, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Caroline (Earsa) Heiak. Following graduation from Wilson High School in 1941 in Cedar Rapids she worked for Collins Radio. On September 29, 1943, she married Cletus D. Barry at a ceremony in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved near Tiffin where they began a life together on the farm. This was life that she loved and was so proud of as she was one that believed hard work was just a way of life. She enjoyed her large vegetable gardens, spending time with neighbors and dear friends to play cards, to enjoy good food and cherished lifelong friendships. Aggie was one to lend a hand to anyone, anytime, as many will remember she was simply a very dear kind and caring soul! Her family includes her daughter and her best friend, Janet; brother, George Heiak of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Velma Kadera of Oxford; nieces and nephews, Terri Williams (Pat), Jim Maurer, Dean Kadera, and Becky Bream (Don); and a number of great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Helen Maurer; and nephew, Philip Maurer.
