Obituary of Deanna J. Daniels

Deanna Joy Daniels, 78 of North Liberty, went to be with our Lord, March 24, 2017, with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Iowa City Church of Christ Church, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Iowa City Church of Christ Church. Deanna Joy Merrifield was born June 23, 1938, in Iowa City the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Jensen) Merrifield. Following graduation from Iowa City High School in 1957, she enlisted in the United States Navy. On February 7, 1959 she married Melvin Dean Daniels in Dayton, Ohio. For over 35 years she worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, most of these years in the Cardiology Department as EKG Supervisor. Deanna’s faith in her Lord was paramount to her life. She was a strong and active member of the Iowa City Church of Christ for many years. She enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and spending time with her family, after her retirement from the hospital, she enjoyed working at the 100 Acre Woods Daycare. Her family includes her husband, Melvin; their children, Michael D. Daniels (Deborah), Julie A. Webster (William), and Richard L. Daniels (Tonya); grandchildren, Shawna Mehaffy (Jason), Nicholas Daniels (Randi Schoop), Anthony Daniels (Kimberly), Brittany Baldridge (Nickolas), Jeremy Murphy, Joseph Daniels, Bradley Daniels (Emily), Cassandra Davis (Jered); step grandchildren, Jason, Benita, Sean, Quynn Iske and Justin Webster; great-grandchildren, Sean, Seth and Oliva Mehaffy; Oliver Daniels, Alex Miller, Keegan Murphy, Braeden Murphy, Blake Murphy, Colton Corbett, Savannah and Haidyn Daniels, Aubrey and Jase Daniels; step great grandchildren, Cameron, Bryson, Elle, Jayna Iske; Sisters, Linda Williams (Wayne) and Sandra Holdiman; and brother, David Merrifield (Lynn). She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Ethel Baxter; brother, Donald Merrifield; granddaughter, Robyn K. Daniels; and aunt Gladys Merrifield.
