Obituary of Mona Irene Rogers

Her family includes three sons, Harold “Harry” and his wife, Marilyn Rogers of Iowa City, Jerrie and his wife, Dorothy Rogers of Iowa City, and Lee Rogers of Coralville; nine grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Rick Berry, Michelle and her husband, Kent Meyer, Mary and her husband, Charles Treiber, Laura Rogers, Steven Rogers, Dan and his wife, Kristen Rogers, Debra and her husband, John Brandt, Brook and his wife, Karen Rogers, and Guylia and her husband, Doug Small; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Kami, Ryan, Kaycie and Kristian Berry, Travis and Taylor Dyer, Jeremy and William Meyer, Hailey Rogers, Amanda, Danny and Abbie Brandt, J.D. and Michael Rogers, Katrina and Trevor Rogers, Shannon, Shanna and Sheyenne Chambers, and Shayleigh and Shane Small; three brothers, Bob Haughenberry of Hermitage, MO, Jon Haughenberry and Fritz Haughenberry both of Kansas City, MO. Mona Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Kristine Rogers, two sisters, and three brothers. Mona was born May 15, 1915 in Fontenelle, Iowa the daughter of Ralph O. and Hazel R. (Power) Haughenberry. She was raised in Missouri, graduating from Spickard High School, Spickard, Missouri. She moved to Iowa City in 1934, married Harley “Red” Rogers June 14, 1935 in Rock Island, Illinois. For many years she worked for the University of Iowa. Harley died July 27, 1992. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City and the Rebekah Lodge for over fifty years, having served as Past Noble Grand.
