Judy Bennett- Funeral Assistant

Judy was raised on a farm in Galena, Illinois before going on to get her degree in Respiratory Care.  She started her healthcare career at UIHC before moving to Atlanta, Georgia for 16 years following that time, she and her husband returned back to Iowa City, where Judy began work at UIHC Downtown campus (Formerly Mercy Hospital).  As she says she did a full circle in life and work.  She worked in many different areas including critical care with neonates, as well as pediatrics and adult patients. In the last several years of her time there, she focused on wound care and hyperbaric.  With 46 great years of healthcare behind her, she decided to retire.

Compassion and empathy for families has always been very important to Judy.   After her husbands passing, Gay & Ciha staff showed nothing but thoughtfulness, empathy and professionalism.  Judy was excited to join the team at Gay & Ciha to share those same qualities with other families.

Judy enjoys riding her bike, reading, volunteering at multiple community organizations around Iowa City and walking the funeral dog, Gertie.
