Dr. Milind Deshpande (11/9/1963 - 1/12/2022) Dr. Milind S. Deshpande was born in Bhor, India on 9th Nov 1963. He received his doctorate in Microbiology from University of Pune in 1991. Later he joined the University of Iowa as a post-doctoral associate. He served as Technical Director of the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing at the University of Iowa. Since May of 2014 he was a Director of Microbiology and Bioactive at Vets Plus, Inc. He was a member of many professional organizations and peer reviewer of scientific journals. He held patents in his field. He volunteered at various social organizations including Chinmaya Mission, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Boy Scouts of America and many more. He was instrumental in mentoring the youth and their development. He helped arranging community programs with various social and spiritual organizations. He was well known amongst the University of Iowa students. Besides his scientific endeavors he also enjoyed gardening, photography, arts, and music. He cherished traveling with his family. He was a devoted son, husband and father. He whole heartedly loved Bharat (India) his country of birth and traveled there as often as he was able to. He passed away on January 12, 2022 in the presence of his near and dear ones. It was an auspicious day of Vaikuntha Ekadashi when the departed souls are guaranteed an entry into the abode of Lord Narayana. He now lives in the hearts of his wife of 31 years, Lalitagauri and two sons, Vinayak and Aaditya, his father Suryakant Deshpande and sister Mrs. Anita Mulay. Services according to Vedic traditions will be held at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Home located in Iowa City on January 14, 2022 at 3 PM. Services can be found under the Livestream Link.
