Obituary of Jeanne Franklin Cook
Jeanne F. Cook, 83, formerly of North Liberty, died Saturday, April 09, 2005 at Lantern Park Care Center. Services will be 6pm Tuesday, April 12, 2004 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where visitation will be from 4pm until service time. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Jeanne was born June 25, 1921 in Cedar Rapids to Bert and Verda (Hungerford) Hoyt. She married Dale Cook on December 5, 1943 in Cedar Rapids; he preceded her January 10, 1998. Jeanne and Dale lived in Mechanicsville for most of their married life. Jeanne was an EMT for the Mechanicsville Fire Department for many years. She was also a jailer for Cedar County until her retirement. Jeanne and Dale moved to North Liberty to be near their children and while there worked for the Corps of Engineers as fee takers for the Sugar Bottom and West Overlook campgrounds. Jeannes family includes two daughters, Marla Wiggins and her husband, Donald and Penny Miller, both of North Liberty, four grandchildren, Bryan Wiggins of North Liberty, Gerri Loring and her husband Scott, Robert Miller of North Liberty and Ronald Miller and his wife Kelly of Oxford, four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Brandi Loring of North Liberty and Spencer and Garrett Miller of Oxford, and a sister Gladys Sturtz of the Williamsburg Care Center. Jeanne was very involved with her family and was loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded by her husband and parents.
