Obituary of Constance Weil

Constance M. (Righter) Weil, 77, of Bennington, Vermont, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Canon Peter O. Sanderson officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to The Nature Conservancy @ 4245 N. She was born August 3, 1927, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of the Charles and Miriam (Williams) Righter. Connie graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Fine Arts and was a lover of classical music. She was an accomplished cellist, an avid reader and had a special interest in her family’s genealogy as well as in the preservation of the environment. Many of her artworks have become family treasures. Connie’s family includes her loving husband Otto of Bennington, VT; her five children, Beth McGilvray of Boulder, CO; Ann Gilbert of Albany, NY; Stephen Stevens of Austin, TX; Miriam Righter of Wellman, IA; and Martha Burnett of Austin, TX, as well as thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a nephew Leigh Popov of Iowa City, IA, and four cousins, among them Phyllis Jones of Iowa City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Millicent Popov. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City, Iowa (1-866-338-1132) is caring for Connie’s family and her services.
