John was a Fantastic Man, in the Spring of 2005 I asked John about a Cattle Dog Pup, I said I’d like a Female, he said he had one, John went out of his way to help me get the Pup flown to California, I picked her up in Reno, flown on Pet-Air. I immediately had a place in my heart for that dog as John under promised and over delivered. I often talked about where she came from and that it was an Angus Farmer who bred them. I through the years went to my friends Ranch in Parkfield California near other Ranches, as my pup slept and I turned off the Freeways to head to the Ranch my Dog “Kiva” would wake when she smelled the Cattle, she’d pop up and hang out the windows looking for them, Bark when she Spotted them, the Smells were imprinted in her, every single time I drove that road and passed ranches with cattle she reminded me of where she came from. Kiva has passed but her and John’s memory will live on with me. Thank you John for such a wonderful companion, she was beside me for 14 years every single day but 3 when I had surgeries.

Jack was a good, kind, friendly person who was very generous with his time serving his community. I always enjoyed talking with him when I met him. I’ll remember him fondly. His passing is a great loss to Tiffin.

Theola, I am so sorry for your loss and at the same time grateful to have spent a short time at your farm last summer with my parents, Jan and Ken Hubel. Mom always spoke so fondly of you. Blessings to your family.

The worst thing about my mild covid infection last fall was that it prevented me from visiting with the Raricks as planned. I envied Jack for living such a good life and admired him for being such a good man.My deepest condolences to Theola and to the children and grandchildren he loved and who loved him.

John impressed by his hearty, forthright, welcoming manner. I met him only a few times. Even from that limited exposure, it was clear that he and Theola were involved in a lifelong dedication to preserving individual farming as a way of life. At considerable expense to themselves.

The world needs more people like John.

Theola, Clint, RoseMarie and family,

I knew Jack from his visits to Veterinary Associates and his dogs. Most notably was his stud dog, Damit. Like Jack, Damit was a character. Jack loved his dogs and kept them well. It was always a good day when Jack came in. He was a delight. We shared an love for dogs, for the land and a real interest in people. We also shared an interest in birds. Through Jack I also got to know Clint and RoseMarie. Their love for their cats was more than refreshing to another pet lover. They cared for so many cats in so many situations. In recent years I was always happy when I would see Jack and Theola at a neighborhood backyard birding day. Jack also supported a band that I was a part of by attending our concerts. It is hard to say goodbye to a man like Jack. But I feel my life has been richer for having known him. Farewell Jack.

To Theola, Clint, Kathryn, spouses and grandkids, you have have been blessed. I know that each of you have been loved by a good man. My sympathy to you now.
