Heather Jane Smith was born November 22, 1973, in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Stephen and Debra (Groom) Smith.  She married Joseph J. Shimon on February 14, 2000.  The couple made their home in Tiffin, raising their family and while she worked in the Release of Information Department at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Heather was the most kind and outgoing soul with the biggest heart. She was also the most stubborn and funny person you’d ever know. Her nickname from some people was “Fun Heather”.  She loved to have a good time and was always the life of the party. She enjoyed music especially 80s rock and Reba. She enjoyed social events such as concerts, bowling, softball and dinner with friends. She loved watching old tv shows like Roseanne and the Golden Girls and could quote lines from every episode. She was a crafter and loved doing all different kinds of crafts including quilting, scrapbooking and ornament making. She was a couponer and enjoyed finding the best deals on groceries no matter how many different stores she had to go to. Heather knew no stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. She had a soft spot for kids but nothing was more important to her than her family. When grandkids arrived on the scene “the anything goes” theme was in order at Grandmas house.

Her family includes her husband, Joe; their children, Megan Albright (Blake), Emily Shimon, Heather West (Andy), Shelby Shimon and Mariah Wiest (Dylan); grandchildren, Kiah, Rylee, Mckinley, Maverick and another little Albright soon to be seen.  Heather’s father, Stephen Smith and her siblings, Cindy, Shannon, Shelby, Stacy and Amanda also survive.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra and grandmother who was so important in her life, Viola Geyer.
