Paul taught us so much on the Peacemaking Task Force of the Presbytery of East Iowa. He was an inspiration. We so admired his work in Gaza, and there was so much more he never got to share with us.
Paul was my office-mate for many years here in the department of anesthesia. I enjoyed listening to his stories of the mission trips he did and the interesting places he worked. I started doing medical mission trips as well shortly before he retired. I suspect his influence got me going on that. I still ponder working in New Zealand as he did, but not certain I will act on that dream. Paul did an excellent job serving others in many roles throughout his life and will be missed.
I did not know Dr. Meyer, but I know he did a great job at raising some quality sons. His bravery to change careers in mid-life to pursue medicine and work towards the health of people across the globe is amazing and a model for all. I wish his family solace in their loss knowing that he has gone to be with God.
