Robert Staley

Condolences
Kathy and family,
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Staley in the Department of Orthodontics at the College of Dentistry. He was such a kind and gentle man and always had a smile on his face! There were so many things that I didn’t know about him, that I discovered while reading his obituary. It was very cool that he drove one of the red buses at Glacier! I commend him for his time working with the Boy Scouts, as that was an organization that was important to me when my sons were young. The last time I saw Bob, was when he was working at the Fall Supper at St. Wenceslaus Church. It was always wonderful to see him!
Dr. Staley will be missed by many! Please know that I am holding you close in my thoughts and prayers!
With much sympathy,
Lynn Clayton
My sincere condolences to Dr. Staley’s family, I feel as though I know him after reading his obituary, what a lovely man! Thomas, you would remember me from all of our conversations at the Mustard Seed. I’ve been to Rome twice so far, such a beautiful city. May your memories comfort you in the days to come.
My dear Kathy and Family,
I'm very sorry for your loss. Robert is one of the best human beings I've ever met. He was a wonderful friend, an accomplished professional, an awesome person to be around and the best family man that I've met in a long time. His friendship and help to my family will remain evergreen in my memory and that of my family. Though members of my family are not here to pay their last respects, they send their condolences and certainly have him in their minds and in their prayers. We pray that he will take his rightful seat in the bosom of the Lord where he will enjoy his well-deserved eternal rest. We also pray that the Good Lord will give you Kathy, Thomas, Elizabeth and the grandchildren the strength to cope with the loss. God bless. Emmanuel Enekwechi.
The Hawkeye Area Council of Scouting America appreciates the dedication and leadership provided by Bob. Our hearts are warmed when thinking of the many happy memories these two Eagle scouts made with us. Camping adventures, canoeing, cooking outdoors. Sounds like they had a lot of fun! We're glad we could be part of it. Our condolences and prayer to you.
Dear Mrs Staley and family
I would like to send my most sincere condolences for the loss of Dr Staley. He was a beloved instructor while I was in residency at Iowa. I always knew that I could approach him with any issue, even if it didn't pertain to orthodontics. I have always been thankful for the opportunity to learn under such an esteemed team of professors at Iowa which included Drs Casko, Bishara, Andreason and Staley. I am grateful to you for supporting him in his career.
My prayers are with you at this time.

Bob will be missed...I met him at St. Wenceslaus church and later saw him almost daily at Bickford. Prayers for the family.

Our condolences and prayers for Dr Staley, Kathie, and your family. We will miss Dr Staley’s calmness, soft speech, and insightful conversations. As a resident, I appreciated his willingness to listen and share his experience without judgement. As a practicing orthodontist I looked forward to seeing and catching up with him at meetings. But it wasn’t until I began teaching that I realized how much important work he had contributed to our specialty. To be able to inspire others for the greater care of our patients is the highest honor a teacher can achieve. I had the honor and privilege to be formed by him. Dr Staley’s influence and legacy will continue for generations well beyond his lifetime.
I am sorry to hear of Dr. Staley's passing. I worked with Dr. Staley in Orthodontics for 13 years back in the 80's and really enjoyed working with him and hearing stories of his family. He was always so friendly and had a smile on his face. My sympathy to Kathy and the rest of his family.
Kathie and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Dr Staley's passing. I worked with him at the College of Dentistry, Dept. of Orthodontics for several years. He was one of the nicest persons to work with. Sending prayers to your family.
Dear Kathie, I never met your husband, but after reading his lovely obituary I feel like I know him. What a wonderful and accomplished person he was. Please accept my sympathy. Sincerely, Susan Frye.
I am saddened to learn of Dr. Staley’s passing. He generously offered his assistance with my master’s thesis (class of 2014), and I had the opportunity to speak with him on many occasions about orthodontics and a variety of other topics. His quiet demeanor, keen intellect, wide curiosity, and effortless kindness made me proud to call him my teacher and friend. The depth and breadth of his experience and faith instilled in him a lightness and strength of spirit that signal, unmistakably, a life well lived. God bless.
I send my most sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Staley. My experiences with Dr. Staley ended for the most part in 1999 when I completed my orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa. Although that was over 25 years ago and we only spoke with each other a few times after, I have thought of him frequently since that time. He was among a very small group of educators who had a tremendous influence on my life, both professionally and personally. I admired him and learned a great deal from him. He was a unique mentor to me and many others and I saw him as a unique man in the best ways. I am a better person and doctor for having known him. I received the news of his passing with sadness, but throughout this day I found myself uplifted by my memories of our interactions and his warm, gentle and caring spirit. May God embrace him in eternal peace. Ron Kolodziej, DMD, MS '99
Condolences to the family of Dr. Staley. I was a resident in the orthodontic program from 80-82. Dr. Staley was a true gentleman and a respected professor. I enjoyed all my interactions with Bob. His mentorship provided many of the fundamentals I carried with me to my everyday practices. Although Bob's demeanor was generally reserved, I found through many personal conversations, he had a great sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. Again, my sympathies to all and my appreciation for his contribution to my training.

We met Robert when he and his wife joined the Catholic faith at St. Wenceslaus. We were proud to call them our friends. We will always remember him with his soft spoken voice and that warm wonderful smile. We will miss him. May the angels come out to greet him and take him Home, until we all meet, again. Our sincerest condolences to Kathie, Thomas and Elizabeth.
