Obituary of Mark Alan Myers
Mark Myers, age 69, lifetime resident of the Coralville and Iowa City area, passed away following a short illness on April 23, 2025, surrounded by his family at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Mark was the first born to Robert and LouAnn Myers on December 6, 1955, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Mark grew up in Coralville and graduated from West High in 1974. He was a lifelong member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf and softball and was a member of the church bowling team as well. He had many jobs throughout his adult life but loved being in sales. His voice, warmth and sense of humor led him to excel at helping people get what they need rather than pressuring them to buy what they didn’t.
On December 4, 1998, he married Deb. They met through a mutual friend and hit it off immediately. They lived in Iowa City and loved having family stay with them. Friday night happy hours were a regular event at their house. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. His sarcasm and all telling facial expressions made for lots of laughs. He was a jack of all trades and had a hard time saying no to anyone that asked for help. He was quick with a chat and couldn’t go anywhere without having someone recognize him, by his face or his voice.
Mark was preceded in death by his father and his two brothers, Chris and David as well as his in-laws Ken and Alice. He is survived by his mother LouAnn, his wife Deb, children Charlie (Amber), Jess (Roddy) and Nick (Lisa) and 5 grandchildren.
