Condolences
To Shane & Marti, and to Joyce's whole family,
My deepest sympathy to you as you say this earthly good bye to your beautiful grandma.
I had the blessing of interacting with Joyce frequently during my time of working
as a nurse at UIHC. Joyce, you always brightened the day of staff and patients
alike in your work as a transporter. and it was always a blessing to see you in the community
away from UIHC, also. You have been an inspiration to me.
Love & Prayers,
Janet and Dan Teets
I'm saddened by the passing of Joyce. She was a great neighbor, and although I moved away from IC, I loved to see her when I would take my mom for groceries at HyVee. She was a strong woman, raising her family on her own after Aubrey's untimely death. And, looks like she's left a large family to carry on.

I was saddened to see another of my childhood neighbors has passed on. What a nice lady! I knew her for many years at Hy-Vee when passed out food samples. She always said "Hello" and we would chat a bit. I will always remember her with a smile on her face. She was indeed a gift to many.
So sorry to hear of Joyce passing away. What a wonderful and kind cousin. I am sure everyone will miss her smile and friendly ways. Linda i am sure you will really miss her. Love to you all. Karen Long
I remember Joyce as a kind and compassionate patient transporter at UIHC. She has a great sense of humor and always had a smile for those that she met.
After moving to Iowa City about 20 years ago, we used to go to Hy-Vee with my wife and son. From the time our son was a toddler, Joyce would always be so kind to him when we visited Hy-Vee. For the minute or two we would talk to her, she turned into a grandma for our son. Thank you Joyce for all the love you shared.
I am so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing.
She was a very kind lady and will be truly missed

Condolences from the Crane family. I have fond memories of Grandma B. while hanging around the Kron house as a kid. Hopefully her memories of us are just as fond. Joyce was also a quasi celebrity among members of the Iowa City Fire Department as we chatted with her often on our regular trips to HyVee.
Burkett family: Sorry for your loss. I remember your mother as a kid in the neighborhood. She was so nice and so welcoming of people into her home. I also found her to be of good humor. I am glad that your mother had a long, prosperous, and successful life. She will be missed. God Bless.
"Oh Linda, I'm really sorry. I loved Joyce. I loved her voice, and when we met in Iowa, we immediately clicked. I loved her way. I hope Linda we see each other again. Sending hugs and greetings from Germany. Joyce, take care, we'll see each other again. And then we'll drink whiskey on the clouds, us two ladies with the deep voices. RIP"
I remember Joyce very well from being a transport person for patients at UIHC over the years. She was always kind and gentle with the patients, and staff members. After her well deserved retirement from UI, I always enjoyed visiting with her at HyVee. She was such a sweet woman! RIP, Joyce!

To the Burkett family, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. My childhood home was just a block away from your family home and I was in the same class as Mike. I remember when you tragically lost your father at such a young age. Your mom was a strong woman to survive that and raise her kids on her own. Joyce was the cafeteria manager when I worked for my lunch at Southeast Junior High and she was a hard worker but fun to work with. Prayers to you all.
Linda,
I am very sorry that you have lost your mother. It is really admirable how she managed as a young widow taking care of you and your siblings. I imagine that you very lovingly styled your mother’s hair for the last time. Blessings to you and your family.
Joyce was a very sweet & caring person. I remember when she got to see Daniel O'Donald the first time when it was a surprise trip for her birthday. The memory of Joyce will remain in our hearts forever.
Joyce was a bright light in this world. She worked with my husband for over 10 years at Hy-Vee and she was always taking care of all the boys in the meat department there :). Her rainbow cake was amazing...and no matter how many times we'd ask for the recipe, she'd never give it up! Every time I would see her she was always so friendly and happy...and a little sassy! She will be dearly missed <3
