Obituary of Karen L. Wilson

Karen Lee Wilson, 72 years old, called Iowa City, Iowa, her home for
her entire life.   Miss Wilson passed away surrounded by her family on
May 15, 2025, in the Iowa City/Coralville area.

Karen was born in Iowa City on August 3, 1952. For the last 17 years, she called Windmill Manor in Coralville her home.  She attended City High and graduated in 1970. Her love of sports seemed endless.  She followed her brother Jerry all through his high school and college years as he participated in both football and wrestling. Her love for the Hawkeyes was deeply embedded in her life. Every Saturday she would proudly wear black and gold. When the weather turned chilly, she would add a stocking hat, mittens and multiple scarves that proudly showed she was a loyal Hawkeye.

Karen is survived by her brother Jerry (Susan Story) Wilson, and two nieces, Margaret and Megan, both living in Florida. Her nieces were the pride and joy of her life.  Karen enjoyed taking them to the park in Iowa City.

A graveside service for Karen was held Friday, May 16th at Memory Gardens and officiated by Pastor Heecheon Jean. The family requests that donations in Karen’s memory be made to Hospice of Washington, Iowa, 119 East 2nd Street, Washington, Iowa 52353. Arrangements were made by Gay and Ciha Funeral Service of Iowa City.
