Obituary of Dolores Jean Wagner
On May 25th, 2025, Dolores Jean “Dee” Wagner passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord. A devoted and loving mother, Dolores was cherished by her children: Lauren, Kyle, Wanda, George and Joel.
Dolores dedicated much of her life to service, both in her community and at her church, Grace United Methodist Church and First Global Methodist Church, where she volunteered faithfully. She was employed throughout her life by Wick’s Lumber and the University of Iowa. She loved to travel, play euchre, poppyseed kolaches & Zally soup (sauerkraut soup).
Her greatest joy came from her family—especially watching her grandchildren & great grandchildren grow and attending their many activities. Her beloved cat, BJ, held a special place in her heart and brought her great comfort.
In her later years, Dolores moved to Keystone Place in North Liberty, where she received compassionate care. She remained deeply connected to her family and spoke with her sister every day. She lived a long, fulfilling life, filled with faith, love and laughter.
She is survived by her children: Kyle Wagner Sr (Barb), Wanda Fennern, George Wagner and Joel Wagner (Carol). She is also lovingly remembered by Pam Wagner, a former daughter-in-law who was like a second daughter to her. Her legacy lives on through her 13 grandchildren: Kyle Wagner Jr (Stacey), Joey Wagner (Holli), Jenny Hartwig (Travis), Terran Wagner (Kylie), Drew Wagner (Kia), Jessi Wagner (Mason), Cassie Hammarmeister (Jesse), Ryan Fennern (Amanda), Eric Hahn (Ashley), Jordan Tufts, Jeremy White, Ashley Tufts & Alexis Wagner; 19 great-grandchildren: Korbin, Addalyn, Keegan, Kelson, Murphi, Kari, Hudson, Veda, Tallulah, Alexa, Aubrey, Allison, Joedan, Jaxton, Jerrin, Carson, Della, Everlee & Landon; sister Marcella Raim (Kenny), plus many nieces and nephews that lovingly called her “Auntie”.
Dolores is preceded in death by her mother, father, brother and son.
The family offers their heartfelt thanks to Pastor Ruby Bongolan, Iowa City Hospice and the staff at Keystone Place for their support and loving care during Dolores’ peaceful transition into her heavenly home.
Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew & loved her.
