Obituary of Marguerite L Mutolo
01/01/1922 — 06/11/2025
Marguerite L. Mutolo was born to her father and mother, Mwana Lonji and Mbula Tshibambe, respectively, on January 1st, 1922, in Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and passed away on June 11th, 2025, in Iowa City, Iowa, United States of America. Her parents had six children, four sons and two daughters, and she was the third child of her parents. She grew up with one of her sisters in the city of Lubumbashi, DRC. She got married to Mr. Bonga Mutuale Alexandre, and they had twelve children, although they lost eight of them at an early age: only four of her children are still living. She left behind nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. During her lifetime, she worked as a self-employed businesswoman in different cities and towns in the DRC.
As a result of the difficult experience of losing several of her children, she decided to give her life to the Lord Jesus. She believed in Him as her Lord and personal Savior. In Kinshasa, DRC, she joined the Presbyterian Church there as a church member, and served as the church housekeeper. In 2016, she came to the United States of America. For the last 9 years of her life she lived in North Liberty, Iowa with her youngest daughter and her family, and she joined the First African Church of the Nazarene as a member.
She recently suffered from an illness of which God decided to take back her life, and she passed away on June 11th, 2025, at the University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City, IA. Marguerite L. Mutolo died at the age of 103. Her long life is considered a special grace from God; may she rest in peace as the Holy Scriptures say:
“Then I heard a voice from heaven say, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them
