Obituary of Paul Lamond Pittman

Paul L. Pittman, age 53, of Coralville, passed away on June 28, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.

Born on November 14, 1971 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Alton, Illinois, Paul was the son of George, Sr. and Joanne (Washpun) Pittman. He graduated from Alton High School in 1991 and went on to earn an associate’s degree in culinary arts from Lewis and Clark Community College. He lived in the St Louis area for several years before relocating to the Iowa City area to be closer to his loved one.

Paul worked as a chef at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in Saint Louis. He also worked at Oakdale Rehabilitation in Iowa City Iowa. He was very proud of his culinary delights that he used to cook up for the residents.

He enjoyed following politics and spending time on Tik Tok and Facebook. Paul was a very proud supporter of the LGBTQ community and helped and participated in Pride events as much as possible. He loved to travel with his best friends, Richard Knight and Charles Knight. His most memorable trip was to Las Vegas where he was able to sit in the front row at a Celine Dion concert.

Paul’s family includes his siblings: Leslie (Janice Whiteside) Washpun of Cedar Rapids, Jeanine Pittman of Iowa City, Steven (Anita) Pittman of Rosemount, Minnesota, and George Pittman, Jr. of Iowa City; nieces and nephews: Tyra Pittman, Brandon Pittman, Ieshia (Marlow) Burrell, Darius Warren, Daunte Warren, and Valencia (Tim) Boyd; aunts, Arlene Moore and Portia Burton; an uncle, Gregory (Rayna) Washpun; a host of cousins; and special friends: Charles Knight, Richard Knight, and Michael Meagher. He was preceded in death by his parents.
