Obituary of Louis Cass

Louis Cass died on June 24, 2025, in Sanford Florida, attaining the age of 97 years, 11 months.

Memorial services will be held at 10 am Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Martins Catholic Church in Odebolt, with burial to follow at the St. Martins Cemetery.  Military Honors will take place at the cemetery, and all are welcome to join the family for fellowship and lunch back at the church following the cemetery services.  

Louis Cass was born on July 24, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Luis and Lydia Casarrubias.   He grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he lived until he joined the Army-AirForce in 1944.  Louis served in World War II and the Korean conflict.  After his military service he earned his degree in mechanical engineering and then went into business at Coral Tool & Die in Chicago.

 

He married Eileen Bengford on August 6, 1958. The family lived in Chicago, IL until 1963, at which time they moved to Iowa, first farming near Schleswig, and then near Dow City.  In 1976 he started Denison Engineering and worked there until retirement. 

 

Louis was a long-time private pilot and had a love of travel.  After Eileen passed away, he moved to Florida in 2020 where he lived until he passed away.

 

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Eileen. He is survived by seven children; Kathleen Thomas, Patricia Cass, Jim Cass and his wife, Sharon, John Cass and his wife, Carol, Bob Cass and his wife, Mary, Christine Baumann and her husband, Bill, and Connie Gollhofer and her husband, Stan;  sister, Nelly Looten; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
