Obituary of Rodney Roland Buck

Rodney Roland Buck age 74 of the Iowa City area passed away August 8, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Private family services celebrating Rodney’s life will be held at a later date.

Rod was born August 14, 1950, to Wayne and Wanda Buck in Maquoketa,  Iowa.  He attended Maquoketa Community Schools  graduating in 1970.  He moved to Iowa City where he worked as a Security Guard and for the Iowa City Community School District.

He was interested in classic cars and car racing.  He was a member of the Classy Chassis Cruisers for several years. He attended any type of car race as often as possible including drag races, dirt track, asphalt and NASCAR.  He was also a loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Rod enjoyed spending time with family and often was the man you had to walk away from because he would talk your ear off!

Rod’s family includes his  four siblings, Rick (Nancy) Buck, LouAnn Buck, Betty (Mike) Breazeale and Nancy Yutzy; a niece and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother-in-law, Nicholas Yutzy; and great-niece Ella Grace Yutzy.
