Obituary of Wayne Edward Jameson

Wayne Edward Jameson was born December 5, 1932, at home in Cherry County, Nebraska, the son of LeRoy and Esther (Oman) Jameson. The family resided in a small house and then moved into a sod house on a ranch on the Dismal River south of Thedford where they lived for many years. Wayne attended a school with children from other ranches close by through 8th grade. He worked his way through high school in Thedford while first staying with a family in town for one year, then sharing a trailer with his brother and sister.  He worked in a meat locker, a gas station, and for a man milking cows and doing all else that was needed. He taught one year of country school before heading to college.

He attended North Central Bible Institute (now North Central University) in Minneapolis, MN from 1951- 1954, where he was known as a nice guy. He worked at Donaldson’s, Woolworth’s, and a power tool factory during college. Wayne met Marilu Wendler at NCBI and they were married in Fort Dodge on June 28, 1952. He liked to hunt, fish, and camp.

He was licensed as a minister with the Assemblies of God in 1954 and ordained in 1957. He pastored churches in Arcadia, NE (1954-57), Gray, IA (1957-64), Burton, NE (1964-68), Atlantic, IA (1968-74), Muscatine, IA (1974-89), and Sioux Falls, SD (1989-2004, when he retired). He worked as a school bus driver and sold Pearson cattle headgates while in Atlantic. He and Marilu stayed in Sioux Falls, SD until they moved to Iowa City, IA to be near family in 2014.

His family includes; his three daughters: Diane Jameson, Donna Jameson-Hayslett (Dan) and Denise Reed (Phil); grandchildren: Danielle Wildeboer (Josh), Dustin Estabrook (Kara), Laura Reed, and Hope Reed; great grandchildren: Emma, Hunter, Esther and David Wildeboer; Benjamin, Jameson, Gavin, and Lillian Estabrook; and Ruby Behr-Lyons; step granddaughters: Lindsay Kidwell (Casey) and Chelsy Hayslett; step-great grandchildren: Mila, Calvin, Lincoln, and Harper Kidwell; siblings: brother Allen Jameson (Garnett), and sister Una (Ken) Clausen; and many nieces and nephews.
