As a volunteer teacher, I first knew Hector in Citizenship class in West Liberty. He was a highly motivated, hard worker who was quick to smile and help others as we all learned together. He loved talking about his 2 daughters and also sharing cooking stories. I send sincere sympathy to his family. I am sorry for your loss. Jan Koellner

I was very sorry to hear about Hector's passing. I first knew Hector as one of our elementary school's parents when Ashley and Angey were young. But, where I really got to know Hector was when he was part of our US Naturalization class. Hector was determined to earn his US citizenship! This became evident when he began our class in 2020 before Covid shut us down, and started right up again when the class resumed after such a long break. Hector's humor and playful nature certainly came through during the lessons, but he took his learning seriously, and was very proud to become a US citizen.

I am thinking of you all during this sad time.
