Obituary of Julie Lynn Plueger

Julie (Johns) Plueger, 68, of North Liberty, Iowa passed away September 14, 2025 after a brief illness with cancer. Julie was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended North High School and then graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Julie worked her entire career in Healthcare Finance and was the Director of Finance at then Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. In 2008 Julie moved to eastern Iowa where she worked as the CFO for the University of Iowa Clinic Network for the last 15 years of her career before retiring in 2022.

Julie raised two remarkable daughters, Amy and Kristin. She always said these girls were her life’s best work and was so proud of the women they grew to be despite challenges faced. Then along came three granddaughters Brynn, Kaylin, and Kendall. Julie LOVED being a grandma. There was no greater joy, and she unapologetically spoiled these girls. Grandma was always down for a shopping spree, and she cherished her “Grandma and Me” days with the girls. Family gatherings and attending her granddaughters’ events were her favorite highlights from recent years. 

Julie is survived by her mother, Ada Johns; her sister, Donna (Brent) Boyer; her brother, Randy (Rachel) Johns; her two daughters, Amy (Mitch) Davis and Kristin (Chris) Fechner; her three granddaughters, Brynn, Kaylin, and Kendall; and her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Johns.

Julie spent her life giving to others. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations or giving of time to a charity/cause important to you will honor her memory. She will be remembered for her trustworthiness, integrity, and compassionate heart.
