Jane Ann Putnam was born on August 7, 1954, in Iowa City, the daughter of Wayne and Martha Jane (Melton) Putnam. She attended Iowa City schools, including Henry Sabin, Central Junior High, and City High School, and later attended Kirkwood Community College. She married Albert L. Kiltzka, a career Marine, on June 14, 1974, at Cherry Point, NC. Jane remained at his side from then on, moving to Hawaii, North Carolina, Tennessee, and California before settling back in Iowa City in 1985. Upon their return, she vowed never to move again, and they stayed in their first Iowa City home for the rest of her life.
Jane worked at the Kirkwood Learning Center as a teenager. In Iowa City, she provided daycare services, and as was her nature, many became part of her extended family. She also ran a ceramics business with her sister, and sold Avon, earning the affectionate title of "Avon Lady" from her many customers. Jane later worked at State Farm Insurance for over 25 years. During her tenure at State Farm Insurance, as with everything she did in life, Jane built lasting friendships with colleagues and clients alike with her welcoming spirit, spunky attitude, and humor.
Family, including her extended "family," was everything to Jane. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Albert; their two sons, Mike Kiltzka (Charlie Jo) and Adam Kiltzka (Ryan); grandchildren Shelby, Dylan, Karissa, and Amber; her sister Mary Lewis (Mike); brother Tom Putnam; cousin Alma Ann Greene; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
