Obituary of Guy W. Williams

Guy W. Williams, age 67, of Iowa City, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at University of Iowa Healthcare-Downtown surrounded by family.

A Masonic Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds Building A, with a Celebration of Life to follow.  Please join us in fellowship with food and beverages provided.  Barn casual attire.

Born on September 20, 1958 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Guy was the son of Tom and Karen (Herrick) Williams.  Guy graduated from West High School, then attended Kirkwood Community College, where he graduated with an Associates Degree in Agriculture Production.

Guy was a lifelong farmer in Johnson County.  He also worked for Maxwell Construction.  Guy was united in marriage to Mindy Stebens on September 8, 1990 at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. 

He enjoyed socializing and catering events for his friends.  Guy was a member of the Pork Producers, Johnson County Cattlemen, the Johnson County Fair Board and the Iowa City Masonic Lodge.  He loved spending time with his grandson, Carson.

Guy’s family includes his mother, Karen Williams of Iowa City; three children: Casey (Brittney) Williams and their son Carson, Kelley Williams (Nate Luerkens), and Danielle Williams (Michael Gardner) all of Iowa City; a sister, Sally (Dan) Treiber of Marion; and nephews, Owen (Amanda) Treiber and their children, Jackson and Caroline, and Quinn (Lauren) Treiber and their children, Archer and Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; and a brother, Andy Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Welsh Congregational Church.
