Obituary of Donna Marie Trent

Donna M. Trent, age 93 formerly of West Liberty and North Liberty died Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday November 8, 2025, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where visitation will be from 11am until service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Donna’s honor has been established for the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.  To share a thought, memory or condolence with her family please visit Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Donna Marie Hills was born April 23, 1932, in Iowa City, the daughter of Ira and Dorothy (Fountain) Hills.  She attended Lone Tree Schools graduating from Lone Tree High School with the Class of 1950.  She was united in marriage to Thomas William Trent on February 1, 1952 in Iowa City.  The couple lived and raised their family near Iowa City until moving to West Liberty in their later years. 

Donna worked for over 45 years outside the home as a Nursing Assistant and CNA at Crestview Care Center in West Branch.  She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Moose Lodge.  She had a variety of things she enjoyed and liked taking care of her gardens, canning, playing cards, doing puzzles, word searches, dancing to polka, listening to Lawrence Welk, country music, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, going to the races and traveling; but nothing was more important than her family!

Her family includes her daughters and their families, Ethel Reimers (Richard), Debbie Besgrove (Bill), Teena Willits (Blaine) and Brenda Nelson (Allen); grandchildren, Eric Reimers (Dawn), Kim Reimers-Frantz, Kelly Downing (Chad), Travis Besgrove (Julie), Jess Mancilla (Anthony), Jarad Kraft (Kayla), Alex Nelson and Matt Nelson; great-grandchildren, Brock, Miranda, Drake, Libby, Aubrey, Tanner, Caden, Olivia, Trent, Mackenzie, Austin, Ellie, Brady, Wyatt, Beckett and Sophia.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; daughter, Carol Gerot; sisters, Carol Bahmler and Phyllis Slaugh and Shirley Buline; and brothers, Keith, Butch and Maynard Hills.

In honor of Donna’s love for the Hawkeyes we encourage everyone to wear Hawkeye attire if possible.
