Condolences
Sorry to the family, my mom taught the girls organ lessons.
Dear Patty’s family: We are very saddened by your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
• As Pat reflects: “Patty was one of the kindest persons I knew. The kitchen towel that is currently hanging in the kitchen was given to me by Patty.”
May you find comfort in Psalm 34:18 …."The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit,"
My sympathies to Patty's family. We shared lots of times together from childhood through high school. Our families' farms were near each other and we spent as much time together as we could. Ice skating on the Boone river was quite an adventure I will always remember. I always thought she was beautiful and fun. She was a good friend. Life took us in different directions, but I will always think of her fondly.
Patty was the sweetest person. I have known her and the Chelsvig family most of my life. Wonderful family!! My deepest sympathy to all her family.
Sometimes you read an obituary thinking that there may be a connection because part of a name sounding familiar. I never knew this Patty, but I did know her first husband, Terry. My mom often talked of Patty’s mom‘s strength and the book Nadine wrote about her illness journey. My cousin-in-law was Patty’s great aunt. Patty’s step mom Patti was a close family friend who served at my mom’s funeral. Patty’s obituary was so beautifully written. Her mother’s closing sentiment brought me comfort. Peace. Love. My condolences to the family. Patty sounds to have been a wonderful person just like her family I knew. She will surely be very missed.
My daughter Morgan attended Regina preschool when Patti was director. She was an amazing educator and Morgan loved her so much. Sending my sympathies to Terry and Nadia during this difficult time.
Terry, Nadia, and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I worked with Patty for 10 years at the Academic Advising Center, often daily. She was an important member of our office family. She was as kind and thoughtful as anyone I’ve known. Patty faced her trial with uncommon strength and grace. I know how important her faith was to her, and I pray God will comfort your family and give you the strength to cope and heal.
Sending our sympathy to the family.
Patty was a fun and lively person and she will be missed. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Terry, Nadia, and family.
Terry & Nadia -
My sincerest condolences for your loss.
May you find solace and healing.
I worked with Terry at UIowa Exam Service in the 1980-1990s and hired Patty as a proctor for exams.
Patty eventually took my job as exam coordinator at Exam Service when I moved to Oregon.
She was so kind and was so good with students; she excelled at the job.
Safe passage, my friend.

Patty and Terry were the coolest people I knew as a child. My lifetime of memories include trips to their cool apartment in Iowa City, spending time at Aunt Lor and Uncle Jack's house during those magical summers, everyone out on the porch laughing and us kids running around. Patty's unending light and willingness to play with me and listening to me the way adults rarely listen to children. Her love of my parents and the poem she wrote for my Dad's memorial at Sutliff. My love is with you, Terry and Nadia, always.
Terry,
Merrilee & I are saddened to hear of Patty's passing. Our thoughts are with you my friend.

Patty was my sweet, sweet dear cousin , Always had something nice to say to everybody , I miss her already . But i am glad she is up in the stars spreading her sweet joy with everyone up there . Our loss their gain .
I met Patty and Terry through mutual friends the Blanks. We solidified the friendship Christmas time about 8 yrs ago when teenage amateur thieves stole a package from Dunlap’s porch. After discovering the contents were not exciting – washing machine parts! the get-away car sped by my house throwing the shredded box in my front yard. I recognize Dunlap on the label and realized they lived very close and tracked down their phone number through Jimmy Blank. Patty and Terry quickly came to retrieve the washing machine parts that Terry had harassed the poor delivery driver when he couldn’t find the package!
Patty would have me and Lori over for drinks in the screened-in porch, just us girls. I often drove by Dunlap’s and stop by to admire Terry’s perfectly mowed grass and their vintage Mercedes convertible and catch up. Patty loved her job and didn’t want to retire-cannot say that about many people. Patty always so cute in her skirt and cowboy boots! She never gave up. When we texted even if her news wasn’t good she always asked how I was doing - always so sweet Patty.
Nadia-your mom loved you so much!
