Condolences
Cyrus and I were on the same track team for a season in high school. He had such a light and sense of humor about him – he got along with everyone and was great to have around. I am sending my condolences to his entire family. He will definitely be missed, and I feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to get to know him.
My deepest condolences to Cy's family and friends. Cy was a beloved member of our University of Iowa Voice Area. He was an absolute gem of a person and brought an earnest and warm presence to every room he entered. This past fall in voice lessons, we worked on Roger Quilter's "Two September Songs" with lyrics from Mary Coleridge. Cy sang them both with ease, clarity, sincerity, and beauty! I share the text from the first of the two:
Through the sunny garden
The humming bees are still;
The fir climbs the heather,
The heather climbs the hill.
The low clouds have riven
A little rift through.
The hill climbs to heaven,
Far away and blue.
Cy is missed deeply and greatly.
It's hard to think of just one memory of Cyrus... but we absolutely loved seeing him at family get togethers, as he dated my niece Bella. Such a unique and precious human! He was one-of-a-kind, talented and so silly. He treated my children like his own siblings. We are so sick at heart and so very very sorry for the loss of your precious Cyrus! May our Lord give you strength and comfort during this time and in the years to come! Much love, the Clark family
