Obituary of Kevin Fountain

Kevin Fountain, 64, of Iowa City, IA unexpectedly passed away at his home on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Visitation will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 4-7 pm.  The funeral will be at 10 to 11am at the funeral home on Monday the 22nd of December. Burial will follow the funeral services in the afternoon hours at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fountain family.

The family requests that in memory of Kevin’s love for the St. Louis Cardinals, visitors wear St Louis Cardinal clothing, something red, or just casual attire.

Kevin Patrick Fountain was born September 18, 1961, in Iowa City, IA.  He is the son of Patrick E. Fountain and Virginia L. (Bain) Adams.  Kevin graduated from City High School in 1980.  After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for 10 years on the USS Nimitz. Upon discharge, Kevin started his career at Mediacom and was employed there until the day of his passing (33 years).

Kevin’s first priority was always his family – especially his son, Jared.  Being Jared’s dad was his favorite thing.  He had a passion for the St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, and, of course, the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his son, Jared; mother, Virginia Adams; siblings, David Fountain and Debi Shalla (John); step-mother, Barbara Fountain; step-brother, Todd Fountain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Patrick; and his half-brother, Chad Fountain.
