Obituary of Raymond Ernest Carlson

Raymond Ernest Carlson passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2025.

Raymond was born June 19, 1929, in Duluth, Minnesota to Leopold and Lena Carlson. Served in the Korean conflict from 1949-1953 on the SS Dashiell destroyer from the US Navy. It was during this time that he lost the hearing in his right ear by being too close to the guns. Drills were supposed to be over, but one last 5” launched and the rest is history. I would be remiss if I did not share this information. He married Doris Morris on June 14, 1952. They adopted 3 children. David, Bonnie, and Nancy. Ray worked for Montgomery Elevator in Moline, IL for 35 years.

They retired to Bella Vista, AR. Ray was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by Nancy Fox and her Ayden. Bonnie Mattaliano (Bill) and their three children, Madaline, Nathan and Joe.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, his son David, and his second wife of 18 years. Marilyn Mathews of Omaha, NE.

A small service will take place in Bella Vista through St. Bernards Catholic Church.
