Obituary of Azari Trevon Lloyd

Azari T. Lloyd , age 8, a beloved third grader at Kirkwood Elementary School in Coralville, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Azari was born on March 10, 2017, in Iowa City to his proud parents, Angine M. Cox and Marzell Lloyd. From the very beginning, Azari brought light, laughter, and love to everyone around him. He enjoyed school, cherished his friends, and loved playing outside, swimming, dancing, listening to all kinds of music, and playing video games. His infectious laugh, bright smile, and unforgettable dance moves had a special way of turning even the darkest days into a rainbow of delight. Azari shared a special bond with his puppy, Simba, who was his constant companion and best buddy. He adored his older brother and sister and never wanted to be far from his loving and devoted mom. Azari’s strength, joy, and loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Azari is survived by his loving mother, Angine Cox; his father, Marzell Lloyd; his brother, Atarus; his sister, Amirra; and siblings Azi and Zae; his grandparents, Venus Price, Michael McNulty, Al and Elaine Cox, and Maggy Woods; along with many other family members and friends who will continue to honor his memory.

A time to remember and celebrate the life of this little warrior will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service .
