Obituary of Karen Ellis

Karen Kay Ellis,age 81, of Belle Plaine, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on April 18, 1944, in Iowa City, Karen was the daughter of Wesley  Albrecht and Mildred (Cook) Davis.  She married Thomas LeRoy Glick on April 25, 1959, in Iowa City.  Together they had two children, Coleen Kay Lewis and Thomas Eugene Glick.  She was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Ellis on August 12, 2011.

Karen’s greatest joys were getting her hair done, watching football and stockcar races, sitting outside, family visits, Diet Pepsi, playing cards, working on puzzles and crosswords, reading and her animals.

Her family includes her daughter, Coleen Lewis (Donnie); a son, Thomas Glick; a stepson, Scott Ellis; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Crawford; grandchildren: Candrace Jones (Kevin), Amber White, Michael Beasley  (Haylee), Thomas Glick (Tiffany), Tara Glick (Blake), and Kaylynn Glick (Soloman); nineteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Debbie Davis, Kathy Ellyson (Greg), Jim Albrecht (Tracy), Alice Harr, Leslie Albrecht (Sue); and several nieces and nephews; and her many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Albrecht and Mildred (Cook) Davis; and siblings: Carol Tell, Gary Albrecht, Margaret Roskup, Wesley Albrecht, Jr., and Clifford Davis, Jr..
