Obituary of Wesley James Anderson

Wesley James Anderson, age 50, of North Liberty, formerly of Des Moines, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Urban Acres Real Estate, 250 Holiday Road, Coralville, Iowa, where there will be a reception and time of fellowship beginning at 3:00 P.M.

Born on January 22, 1975, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Wes was the son of Dennis and June (Pim) Anderson. He graduated from East High School in 1994 and later trained as a Journeyman with the Glacier Union. Over the years, Wes faced many setbacks and health challenges that eventually prevented him from continuing his work.

In his younger years, Wes was an exceptional athlete who excelled in both baseball and basketball. He played baseball at Kirkwood Community College and carried a lifelong love of sports, especially golf, which he enjoyed anytime he had the opportunity. Wes was incredibly sociable and had a large circle of friends. The Eastside of Des Moines was where he called home, and where he spent his time making people smile and laugh. Wes was truly “Eastside Personified.”

Wes deeply loved his family, and in recent years he especially cherished the time spent with his great-niece, Laney. The two shared a special bond, along with his loyal dog Jack, his constant bed buddy. Above all, Wes had a strong faith in God, and he is now seeing Jesus face-to-face.

His family includes his parents, Dennis and June of North Liberty; his siblings, Shawn(Vesper) Anderson of Newton and Brandie (Rob) Thein of Coralville; his nieces and nephews: Jordan Anderson, Brianna (Sean) Gardner, Azalin Anderson, Solar Anderson, Skyler (Brenden) Landuyt, Savanna Richter, Landon Thein, Layla Thein, Parker Thein, and Paxton Thein; great-nieces and nephews: Lincoln Gardner, Logan Gardner, Grayson Gardner, Graham Gardner, and Laney Landuyt; his grandfather, Bob Prather; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Donna Prather and James Wesley and Irma DeVaul; and aunts and uncles: David Gunnerson, Duane Pim, Donnie Snook, Doug Pim, and Mary Ann Pim.

Memorials in place of flowers can be made to On With Life, Brain Injury Neurorehabilitation Services at 2854 Coral Ct, Ste 1, Coralville, Iowa 52241  (https://www.onwithlife.org/)
