Obituary of Lucy Sharp

Celebrating the Life of Lucy A. Sharp 1942 – 2026 North Liberty, Iowa –

The rhythm of North Liberty is a little quieter today as the community mourns the passing of Lucy A. Sharp, 83, who marched to the beat of her own tambourine.

Lucy passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of unbridled joy, music, and friendship. The Life of the Party Lucy was known throughout the area as the woman who brought the music with her. Whether she was at a local pub or a neighborhood bar, she was never without her signature tambourine, joining in with the band and bringing a smile to every patron in the room. Her energy was infectious, and she truly believed that life was meant to be celebrated. A social butterfly in every sense, Lucy was a staple at senior lunches and a legendary hostess. She loved the holidays and was famous for throwing parties that brought her many friends together.

To Lucy, no one was a stranger for long; she had a unique gift for making every person she met feel like the most important person in the room. A Dedicated Fan and Music Lover Lucy’s passion for life was rivaled only by her love for her favorite local bands and her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.  The Music: She was a devoted follower of the local music scene, rarely missing a performance by Ritchie Lee and the Fabulous Fifties or Blue60. The Hawks: A "Super-Fan" in every sense, Lucy was a regular fixture at HawkTalk. She loved talking shop with football coach Kirk Ferentz and basketball coach Ben McCollum, never missing a chance to support her team with her trademark cheer and Hershey kisses.

A Legacy of Joy Lucy was well-known throughout the area not just for her presence, but for her spirit. She was a woman who chose happiness every day and shared that gift freely with her community. Her bright spirit and the jingle of her tambourine will be deeply missed "She didn't just walk into a room; she brightened it. She didn't just listen to the music; she became a part of it."
