Obituary of Edward Kasper
Edward A. “Ed” Kasper, a lifetime resident of Oxford, died Thursday,February 12, 2026 at the Downtown Campus of UIHC in Iowa City at the age of 73.
Ed was born May 30, 1952 in Iowa City to Robert and Margaret (Crow) Kasper. Ed attended Clear Creek Schools, graduating with the Class of 1970 from Clear Creek High School. He spent many years working for Farm Service of Oxford and the Oxford Sale Barn. Ed married the former Vicki L. Lackender on February 10, 1997 in California.
Anyone who met Ed would remember him as one of the kindest souls they had ever met. He wouldn’t think twice to go out of his way to help anyone in need, and would do so with a grin on his face. His compassion, friendliness, and sense of humor affectionately earned him the nicknames “Sweet Rascal” and “Ornery Eddie” and he never let anything hold him back.
Ed loved bowling, westerns, his friends who served alongside him on the Johnson County Cattlemen’s Association Board, his dogs, family, and his church. He was always the first person to come to church each day, and the last one to leave as he volunteered to open and close the church regardless of the weather, time commitment, or other responsibilities he had.
Ed is survived by his family, including his wife, Vicki, numerous other family members, countless friends, and of course his most recent four legged friend, Pearl. He was preceded in death by his parents, and dogs, Hoss, Sheba, Duke, Louise and Moses.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10am Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church inOxford with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
