Obituary of Clodean Lord
Clodean Lord, age 90 longtime resident of Iowa City died Monday, February 16, 2026.
A time of visitation will be held from 9am till 11am Monday, February 23rd. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service concluding with services from the Iowa City Nurse Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Compassus Hospice or Iowa City Nurse Honor Guard. Clodean Morgan was born November 23, 1935, in Iowa City the daughter of Charles R. and Elsie E. (Fountain) Morgan. Following graduation from West Liberty High School, she attended and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City. This would be the beginning of a career that spanned over 38 years as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, retiring in 1998. She married Louis Lyle Lord Jr. on January 13, 1957, at the Cedar Valley Methodist Church in West Liberty. The couple made their home in Iowa City where they would raise their two sons.
Clodean was active in the Muscatine County 4-H Club, not only holding various offices, but enjoyed competing in the annual fair with her famous pies and quilts. Baking and quilting were lifelong hobbies, and ones that brought her much joy and recognition, as she was very good at both!
Her family includes her two sons, Blair Lord (Cathy) and Boyd Lord; grandchildren, Trevor Lord (Mickenzie Lawler-Lord), Colin Lord (Elizabeth Handschy), Meagan Caron (Steve) and Abigail Lord; great-grandchildren, Raena Chute and Emrys Caron; her brothers, Charles Morgan Jr. (Lloyse), Lon Morgan and Wade Morgan (Marie); brother-in-law, Harold Plate; sister-in-law, Alice Goodlock; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Kevin, sister-in-law, Nancy Plate; and brother-in-law, Lauren Goodlock.
