Obituary of Lorna Fesler
Lorna Ruth (Chadek) Fesler left her earthly life to join the Lord, her husband Jack, family, and friends in eternal life on February 26, 2026.
Lorna was born on November 1, 1941, the daughter of Carl Joseph and Frieda Ann (Villhauer) Chadek. Growing up, Lorna participated in Girl Scouts, the high school band playing bassoon, and loved her sisters Jeannette and Carolyn.
After graduating from Iowa City High School in 1960, she attended the University of Iowa where she earned a degree in Interior Design and then began working at Whipple Furniture House. She also enjoyed being a member of the Scottish Highlanders and serving as a camp counselor for Girl Scouts on trips to Alaska and Hawaii.
On April 4th, 1964, she married the love of her life, Jack Fesler. After moving from Iowa City to Davenport, IA, and then to Sandwich, IL, Lorna and Jack moved back to the Iowa City area. Lorna spent many years being a stay-at-home mother to her four children, but in the 1980s she began working for what is now NCS Pearson. She loved her job and her work family. While many people would have retired in their earlier years, her job was where she found purpose. She never retired from her job. For enjoyment, Lorna was an avid Hawkeye fan enjoying both football and basketball games. She loved to tailgate and often cooked for early morning arrivals with her tailgate friends. Lorna liked to cook, bake brownies and cookies and other sweets, and do her own grass mowing, weed eating, and snow shoveling.
The largest love in Lorna’s life was her husband, Jack. Their motto “Together Forever” is found written on notes and cards and letters throughout their home. Jack was taken from her on March 29, 2022, and although she continued work and continued to love and enjoy her children and grandchildren, she was always lonesome to see Jack again.
Lorna is survived by her son Brian (Tracy) Fesler, Nashville, TN, daughter Sarah (Rickey) Wasson, Stanton, KY, and their children Alicia Rose Wasson, Darren Ray Wasson (Kylee Riddell), Preston Wasson (Alicia Haddix), daughter Lisa Fesler, Coralville, IA, and her son Kendall Harrison, and son Chris (Denise) Fesler, Riverside, IA, and their children Meleah Mae Fesler, and Mallory Ruth Fesler. She is also survived by her sisters Jeannette Fulton and Carolyn (Dick) Mathies along with their children, Lorna’s nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, father and mother in-law Dan and Evelyn (Kimm) Fesler and brother-in-law Keith Fulton.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a casual visitation for family and friends will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday, March 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a celebration of life to take place at 6:00 p.m. that evening. A private burial and gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorial donations can be made in her honor to be directed towards causes important to Lorna thoughout her life.
