Norbert A. Meyer
1925 - 2026
Condolences
I was fortunate to have Mr. Meyer as my Pre-Algebra/Algebra teacher at Central Junior High. His ability to teach concepts was truly amazing; I wasn't the best at algebra but he kept encouraging. However, he is etched in my mind for the day of November 22, 1963. His classroom was adjacent to the administrative offices (I think he was a vice-principal at that point). Shortly after our class started, someone from the administrative office came in and asked him to step out of the room. When he returned, he was visibly upset about something. He had the unfortunate task of telling our class about JFK's assassination. His kindness to our class at this difficult time is something I will always remember.
My condolences to your entire family for your loss. May your hearts be filled with loving memories of your father/grandfather.
Your Dad taught me so much. He hired me and I began work in the library at Northwest in 1976. Over the next 10-plus years Norb taught me about dealing with so many issues in his calm and friendly way. He supported the library and helped me and Chuck Kreeb as we began to explore the early days of educational computing. I have great memories of sitting in his office during our monthly meetings, while he smoked his pipe.
My sympathies to Mr. Myeyer’s family. He was an amazing man.
Watch out for the deer, Mr. Meyers. ❤️
Sympathy to family of Mr. Meyer. He wasn't just a great Principle he was a wonderful example of a happy man b/c his heart was always on his sleeve and willing to share it with anyone that crossed his path in life. Loved his smile and his long stride as he passed in the school hallways, Central Jr. High. His legacy is a bit like TV Mr. Rogers as a friendly neighbor in the old town Goosetown. He encouraged & accepted students at all levels to do their best effort, and created a positive environment for us all. Rest in Peace.
