Obituary of Kenneth M. Sandersfeld
Kenneth “Kenny” M. Sandersfeld, age 84 lifetime resident of this area died suddenly Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Kenneth Martin Sanderfeld was born July 23, 1941, in rural Homestead, Iowa the son of Martin and Cleone (Leahy) Sandersfeld. He attended schools in Williamsburg graduating with the Class of 1959 from Williamsburg High School. For a number of years Kenny drove over the road, logging in over a million miles. He joined Plumbers Supply in 1970, starting in the warehouse and soon became that familiar face at the counter taking care of customers who many would call Kenny a friend! He retired in 2016 after 36 years of working full time, but just couldn’t quit, so he continued on in the part time capacity for several more years. Outside of work, which he often said was not work, Kenny enjoyed mother nature, reading and watching birds, fishing, finding golf balls while he golfed, driving his golf cart all around the City of Oxford, any sports on tv, a cold one whenever the time was right, which was often; his weekend breakfast dates with his buddies, but nothing was more important and brought him greater joy than his two grandchildren. With them at the UI & ISU, he became both a Hawkeye and Cyclone Grndpa. He just simply couldn’t have been more proud to be their Grandpa!
His family includes his daughter and her husband, Stacey & Toby Moran; his two grandchildren, Alexa and Chase; his sister, Sharon Ballinger, nieces Christy Hackler, Carmen Guild and Carol Lawson and his nephew, Aaron Sandersfeld.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse, Susan (Sherlock) Sandersfeld; brother, Gerald Sandersfeld; and brothers-in-law, David Von Ansen and Carl Ballinger.
Kenny’s request was no public services, but to remember him when you enjoy your next “Cold One”. Also to honor Kenny and much of a number of his family members who have served in various Fire Departments, any memorial donations can be made in their honor to the Oxford Fire Department or your local fire department.
