Obituary of Jennie LeVonne Pettit

Jennie LeVonne Pettit, age 68, of Iowa City, passed away on May 4, 2026 at Iowa City Rehab.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Born on March 25, 1958, Jennie was the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Behles) Pettit. She graduated from West High School in 1976. Jennie was a homemaker while her children were younger. She then worked various retail jobs.

Jennie enjoyed listening to music and was a huge Beatles fan. She liked to watch black and white movies and anything with Audrey Hepburn. Jennie also had a collection of Betty Boop memorabilia. She loved all animals, especially all of the cats and dogs she had over the years. Jennie enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with her best friend, Lori. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Jennie’s family includes her children: Jeremy Pettit (Nina Torres), James Mitchell (Tori Brade), Joseph Pettit (Teresa Hart) and Katerine Mitchell; her grandchildren: Austin Pettit, Bethaney Pettit, Josh Pettit, Toph Brade-Mitchell, and Ashley Blair; a brother, Ken Pettit; and a cousin, Jill Pettit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Martha Mitchell Pettit; brothers: Ed Pettit, Dewayne Pettit, Tom Pettit, Cliff Pettit, Donnie Pettit, and Emmit Pettit; and her best friend, Lori.
