Obituary of Cynthia S. Cox
Cynthia “Cindy” S. Cox, age 71 lifetime area resident died Monday, April 20, 2026.
Cynthia Sue Schneider was born October 28, 1954, in Iowa City the daughter of John and Nancy (Daniels) Schneider. Attending schools in Iowa City Cindy graduated from City High School with the Class of 1973. Entering the work force as an adult, she worked as a food service worker for Burge Hall at the University of Iowa. Following this she had jobs with Kwik Shop, HyVee and her last job was at the former Payless Choe Store in Iowa City.
Cindy married Fred Cox on March 23, 1974, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, they later divorced but not before the birth of their daughter, Jennifer. Cindy enjoyed much in her lifetime, bowling, baking, volunteering, hitting all the thrift shops looking for that good deal, snowmobiling, jet skiing, visiting destination places on the weekends with family. Listening to country western music, watching Wheel of Fortune. She loved spending time with her family, especially watching events her granddaughter was involved in. She loved the time with her longtime life companion, Dave and you can’t forget her kitty cat, Bobby Boy who was a bit spoiled in this world.
Her family includes her daughter, Jen Cox (Ben Threlkeld), granddaughters, Victoria Threlkeld and Zaelynn Threlkeld (Connor); Cindy’s sister, Mary Sasina (Jerry); nephew, Jason Sasina; great nieces and nephews, Dillon, Jared and Kaylee; and her best friend and life companion, Dave Lehman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, infant brother, parents, former husband, Fred Cox, niece, Jamie McCrackin and her cat, Bobby Boy.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 3 to 8 pm at the Parnell Hall, Parnell, Iowa. Memorial donations are being accepted at the funeral home. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Cindy’s arrangements and her family.
