Obituary of Jeffrey Shimon

Jeffrey S. Shimon, 48, of Iowa City, died Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. 

Jeffrey Scott Shimon was born in Iowa City, IA on March 9th, 1978 to John and Susan Shimon. 

Jeffrey graduated west high school in Iowa city in 1997. Jeffrey enjoyed the outdoors. You always saw him outside planting flowers and gardening.  He loved helping people and spending time with family.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm, July 19, 2026 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, followed by a celebration of Jeffrey’s life at the VFW 3949 in Iowa City from 2-6 pm.  All are invited to join Jeffrey’s family to share memories and stories together. 

He was proceeded in death with his father, John Shimon Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Susan Harter, stepfather Charles Harter, Debbie (sister) Iowa city, IA, Sherry(sister) & Paul Iowa City, IA, Theresa (sister) Iowa City IA, John (brother) Fort Madison, IA, Cathy (sister) Fort Madison, IA, Sara (sister) Fort Madison, IA, Tim (brother) Washington, IA, Jinny (sister) Mike Riverside, IA, Jeremy (brother) Tika Iowa City, IA; And his nieces and nephews, Jakob, Gabrielle, Corbin, Nic, and Hailey.  He also has many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
