Obituary of Robert Richard Wolfe

Robert “Rob” R. Wolfe, age 70, passed away at home July 1, 2026.

Rob was born April 28, 1956, to William T. and A. Louise (Tribby) Wolfe in Iowa City, IA.  They took him home to West Branch where Rob grew up.  Rob graduated from West Branch High School in 1974.  Rob moved to Iowa City after the death of his mother in 1992.

Rob worked various jobs until starting work with the Rock Island Railroad like his father and brother.   He worked for railroads the next forty years ending his career with Iowa Interstate Railroad. Rob loved his trains and cocker spaniels, Phinneas being the last.

He is survived by his brother, Michael Wolfe (Cheri Sexton), Lone Tree; sister-in-law, Happy Wolfe, Cedar Rapids; and brother-in-law, Steve Eliason, Iowa City;  nephews, David Fulwider, Paul Lawrence and Cory Wolfe; nieces, June Seligman, Lori Boyd, Karen Anderson, Chris McGuire, Wendy Coffin, Kirsten Wolfe, Amy Mechtensimer, Jessica Wolfe and Lindsay Racey.

He was preceded by his parents, brothers, Larry G Wolfe, Louis Wolfe and Thomas Wolfe; sisters, Nora “Bea” Fuldwider, Joanne Lawerence and Anita Eliason; and his niece, Brandy Adams.

A celebration of life will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home, Sunday July 19, 2026, from 12noon until 2pm.
