Obituary of Yvonne Monger

Yvonne “Von” Monger, age 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.  There will be a reception and time of fellowship following the service.  There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Born on June 26, 1961 on Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Von was the daughter of Ralph and Janet (Petz) Mertes.  She was a military child, living in New Mexico, California, Kansas, and Washington D.C.

She graduated from Harrison High School and lived in Colorado Springs from 1970 until 2019.  Von moved to Cedar Rapids to be closer to her daughter and family in 2022.  She worked as an order fulfillment manager for Digital Equipment Corporation and then as a Retirement Plan Manager for TRowe Price.

Von’s greatest priority in life was her family, and she experienced great joy with her grandchildren.  She spent time with them and took care of them any chance she could. 

Von’s family includes her daughter, Kellie Everhart and her husband, Nicholas,  with their children, Warren “Ren” and Mitchell of Cedar Rapids; her son, Justin Monger and his children, Calla and Jamisen of Dallas, Texas; and a sister, Annette (Ronald) O’Donnell and their son Jason.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Janie Mertes; and a brother, Lawrence Peter Mertes.
