Robert Russell Evans was born February 9, 1927, in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Russell James and Zella (Stimmel) Evans. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. For many years Bob worked for Farm Service, retiring in 1987. He then went to work and helped develop Altanna Estates in Coralville. He loved the outdoors, and was happy doing woodworking in his shop; and was an avid fan of John Wayne. But most of all, his greatest love in this world was his family, spending time with them and his friends. His family includes his wife of 63 years, Bonnie (Blaha) Evans; two daughters and their husbands, Susie and Mike Wade of Windham; and Sally and Mike Attwood of Amana; grandchildren, Patrick (Cerina) Wade, Angie (James) Waters, Russell (Emily) Yansky, and Brandon Yansky; three step-grandchildren, Jayson (Paula) Attwood, Andy Attwood, and Brett (Melissa) Attwood; great-grandchildren, Austin, Emma, and Kaitlin Waters and Avery Yansky; six step-great-grandchildren, Cayla and Ava Attwood, Annabelle and Mayson Attwood, and Ashton and Hannah Attwood; brother, Rodney (Pauline) Evans, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dean Evans, and a sister, Louise Lewis.
