Obituary of Lindle Lee Simmons

Lindle L. “Fred” Simmons, 74 or rural Oxford, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Services celebrating Fred’s life will be announced in the weeks to come. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Fred’s arrangements and his family. Lindle Lee Simmons was born June 29, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Herbert and Beulah (Burkenbine) Simmons. He moved to this area years ago and had worked for Cargill for over 40 years before retiring. Fred enjoyed his guns, he was a member of the Amana Sportman’s Club where he was well known and respected not only for his gun skills and knowledge but for sharing and teaching younger ones gun safety and respect. He also enjoyed Classic Cars, especially the Corvettes! He was a kind, gentle, generous good soul, a dear friend to many. Those closest to Fred are his lifelong partner, Dorothy Niffenegger, her children, Rusty Niffenegger, Pamela Wagner, and Laura Niffenegger; dear friends, Garry Wilhelmi “Wilbur “ (Kathy), Robert Barry “Doc” (Kathy), Glen Dodd, Richard Tibbetts (Joan), Lyle Seltzer, Kevin Parvin, Keith Seiwert, Rick Ransom, and Wayne Forrestall; and a host of many more friends from over the years.
