Obituary of Joan C. Wonick

Joan C. Wonick, 67, longtime resident of the Iowa City area died Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the Simpson Home in West Liberty. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4 to 7pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Joan's memory. Joan Carol Stallfort was born on January 30, 1947, in Camden, NJ, the daughter of William and Alba (Wilkerson) Stallfort. As a child her family moved to Iowa where she has lived in the Iowa City area for many years. She married James F. Wonick on May 15, 1965, in Coralville. She has worked for a number of different businesses in the area over the years, Charcoal's, various Five & Dime Stores, Dietary Dept. at the VA Hospital, longtime Avon distributor, and for many years in the parking division for the City of Iowa City. She was an avid bowler, belonging to many leagues in this area. She had been a member of the Eagles Lodge and Moose. Her family includes her husband, Jim; son and his wife, Bryan and Kristy Wonick; 4 grandchildren and three sisters, Sharon Strabala, Miriam Stallfort, and Gina Reuter.
