Obituary of Rita O. Neitderhisar
Rita Neitderhisar, 78 of rural Tiffin died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Karl Divine-Koch officiating. Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for the services on Dubuque and Jefferson Streets. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Ritas memory. Woods Neitderhisar was born February 5, 1928, in Victor, Iowa the daughter of Darrel and Mabel (Smith) Woods. She attended Iowa County rural schools and later graduated from Millersburg High School. On April 23, 1947, she married George V. Neitderhisar at the First English Lutheran Church in Iowa City. For many years she and George farmed near Tiffin, she had also worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, Proctor & Gamble and the Top Door in Iowa City before retiring. Because of declining health, she moved to the Solon Nursing Care Center in March of 2000. She was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, cooking and entertaining family and friends, but the role she loved most was that of being, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was so devoted to her family. Ritas family includes her daughter, Linda McAdam of Tiffin; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Mike Ernst of Golden Valley, MN, and Ryan and Sarah McAdam of Cedar Rapids; six great-grandchildren, Morgan, Emma and MacKenzie Ernst, Hunter, Gavin, and Tiernan McAdam; sisters, Carolyn Ridenour and her husband, Jerry of Marion, and Dorla Blair of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Marvin Woods of Millersburg and Ivan Woods of Delta, IA; sister-in-law, Sylvia Neitderhisar of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, George on April 30, 2005. Ritas family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Solon Nursing Care Center and everyone at Iowa City Hospice for the loving care provided to Rita.
