Obituary of Anna K. Kabela

Anna K. Kabela, 98, formerly of 926 E. Fairchild Street, Iowa City died Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, Iowa. No public services are planned, she will be buried at the Morse Cemetery at a later date. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for her family and arrangements. Anna Kofron Kabela was born December 13, 1908, in Petersburg, Virginia, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Walta) Kofron. She married Roy R. Kabela in Rock Island, Illinois in 1931. She has worked for Owens Brush, John's Grocery, Jefferson Hotel, and she retired as a manager in food service in the Wheel Room of the University of Iowa Memorial Union. She moved to the care center nearly three years ago from her home. Her family includes son, Roy A. Kabela of Iowa City; daughters, Phyllis Rundell of The Dalles, OR and Dorothy Chipman, of Iowa City; grandchildren, Vickie Bryant (Dan), Alan Kabela (Kerry), Ronda Parizek (Wyatt), Anette Kabela, Steve Rundell (Lisa), Cynthia Philips (Kenny), Randy Chipman, Stacey Chipman (Jodi), Danny Chipman, Leanne Fry (Tod), sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; brothers, John Kofron of West Branch, and Charles Kofron (Ann) of Tipton; sister, Dorothy Richards of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, young son, Charles Frances Kabela; 5 brothers and 2 sisters, two sons-in-law, and one daughter-in-law.
